Join us for the first Assemble, Exchange meeting facilitated by Alica Bickerstaff and Choterina Freer at GSASA. This cross-disciplinary peer crit series aims to encourage collaborative learning, providing a space for students from all programmes across GSA to engage in critical discussions and share ideas and references.
For this session, we will be looking at the exhibition ThinkTankers by David W. Hicks, a current student on the MLitt in Fine Art Practice. David has opted for this session to be in the form of a silent crit where participants will share their thoughts for 50 minutes, before David gives information on the work in the exhibition at the end of the discussion.
About the Exhibition: ThinkTankers showcases sculptures and sonic art inspired by the music and lyrics of Sleaford Mods and their album UK Grim. The exhibition brings attention to hidden 'bad actors' such as think tanks, impacting our lives without much opportunity for challenge. The goal is to prompt viewers to question 'who's behind our trusted systems' in politics, economics, society, and technology.
Pre-Reads: David has provided some pre-reads on the Sleaford Mods ahead of the crit:
