If you pop into the Students' Association building (20 Scott Street, by the way!) at some point during your time here, then you're sure to notice the Vic Bar on your left.
You'll be able to get a taste of what the Vic has to offer over Freshers' Week, but, to whet your appetite, we thought we'd share the story of how the bar played a part in a couple's wedding.
Here's Susan Lee-Kidd's story:
"I met my husband in the Vic Bar in 2003 on the chequered dancefloor at a night called Divine (still the longest running club night in Glasgow). My friends and I were regulars at the Vic, so when it closed we were there for Divine's final night at the Art School (you can still find a hazy video of the night).
"Divine played the Friday, and we happened to be walking past on the Saturday when Bob (the famous doorman) asked if we wanted to pop up for one last drink. We did and noticed that one of the tiles had already started to come up and we though, as it was the last night, to grab ourselves some of the famous chequered tiles. I think my husband and I were engaged at that point, and we joked that we could use this for our first dance.
"Fast forward to 2013 and we ended up having our first dance on the chequered dancefloor. Divine, who at this point had become a very good friend, was also our wedding DJ. It's a nice tale, I once heard someone on 6 Music talk about it, and the story has since grown arms and legs that my husband rummaged through the skip to obtain the tiles!"
You can come to the Vic Bar every day during Freshers' Week from 5pm until late. (Marriage not guaranteed)
